Greek Fairies stories
The fairies one meets in Greek myths and tales seem to be made of water. They live like nymphs in mountains, forests, rivers, springs, fountains, caves, in nature, and go by many names: Anerades, aneragodes, neraisses, kseramenes, avragides etc. In legends, they move about in cyclical formations, on areas such as fields, fountains, ponds or cisterns; and their their footprints reveal their dancing patterns, which are also circular. During the day, they spin (they separate the thread for braiding), in a circular pattern of moves. Traditionally, they are said to be strikingly beautiful, with long blonde hair and usually green eyes, wearing white dresses and holding a white handkerchief. 'As my grandmother used to say - "Only those who are born on a Saturday and those who are light-hearted may see them"
